Letter to the Church of Pergamos – Revelation 2:12-17
Sermon Notes
Revelation 2:12-17
Jesus commends the church in Pergamum for remaining faithful in a culture filled with idolatry and persecution, but rebukes them for tolerating compromise and false teaching within the church. Believers are called to hold fast to Christ and His Word, repent of compromise, and trust in the eternal rewards promised to those who overcome.
Practical Takeaways
- Hold fast to Jesus and His Word. In a culture full of sinful voices and temptations, Scripture is our source of truth, strength, and stability.
- Reject compromise before it takes root. Small compromises with sin or false teaching can gradually pull us away from wholehearted devotion to Christ, so we must be quick to repent.
- Be faithful regardless of the cost. Like Antipas, stand firm in your faith, remembering that Christ sees your faithfulness and has promised an eternal reward to those who persevere.
